I also have published a blog on a blow tire while on the highway on the main web site. Went to the park from Apr 12-17. Selected a 'pull thru site' on Reserve America, was not so. Suggest you call the Park to verify before you bring your big rig here! There were lots of smaller sites well suited to tent campers. Closest berg is Zephyr Hills, about 6 miles away. There is a Camping World Store @ exit # 10 on I-4. If you have a canoe/kayak, there is a launch site on the river within the camp site. However, be advised that if you have a 'pretty boat' there are numerous rock formations in the river that will test your navagational skills. There are hiking & bike trails. There is a swimming pool by the General Store, along with a snack bar where you can grill your own pancakes. Also be advised if you have a large class A that the dump site is on a circle within some trees that could be difficult, you might want to scout it out before you depart the Park. Looks like the County & Parkies are pretty serious about their speed limits.

We're soon to be off on our first "big" trip. Leaving April 19 and coming back May 25. We're going go Silver River SP; High Falls SP in Jackson, GA; Vogel SP in Blairsville GA; Tennessee Hills RVPark in Manchester TN; Natchez Trace (1,000 Trails) in Hohenwald, TN; Tombigbee SP in Tupelo, MS; Shepard SP in Gautier MS; St. Andrews SP in Panama City; and last but not least, O'Leno SP in High Springs, FL. Hope we still love each other and the dogs and cat when we get home. Sandy

I am fairly new to camping (7 months). I've enjoyed Kissimmee Prairie Preserve north of Ocheechobee, Lake Louisa, Highlands Hammock, Lake Kissimmee SP in Lake Wales, Florida Caverns SP and St. George Island SP. Just came back from Hillsborough River SP. Great place. Alot of camping sights and alot to do. I enjoy Kissimmee Prairie Preserve for it's peace and quiet and the rangers are super. Great place for star gazing...no light pollution. Plenty of spacy between the camp sights also. In the cooler months they offer swamp buggy tours.
Lake Kissimmee State Park offers privacy between all of the camp sights and many trails to wander thru. The Cow Camp is on sight there which offers a taste of what it was like living as a cowboy in 1870's Florida.

Went to Silver River SP Mar 23-27 2009. Stayed in a very nice shaded pull thru site. Only knock I have on the place that there is only 1 bath house for each of the 2 camping circles. (2 bath houses for 4 circles) Each only has 2 showers & 2 potties. I didn't have any problems using the facilities, but I would think there is a potential for 'scheduling' problems. Rented a canoe. If you bring your own boat, you will need wheels for the soft sandon the river trail, it is about a 15-20 minute hike to the river landing site. Paddled up stream vs the current & was @ the Silver Springs attraction in about an hour. Lots of pretty Cypress to see, lots of protected fish (as in no fishing), a few smallish gators & a few monkies. I watched where the glass bottom boats were going & waited till they cleared out to look @ the Springs. You are not allowed to get out of your craft along the river, so plan your 'facility' stops accordingly. Went during the week, so there were a few motorized craft out there & only a few did not obey they 'no wake zone'. It was a very nice paddle. Another day, we hiked on the 'swamp trail', the 1/2 way point is a boardwalk on the river, with a nice shaded area to have a snack/or lunch. There are also a few bike trails in the part too. Ice @ the Ranger station is $2.50 for 10 lbs.....There is a Wal-Mart Super store very close to the Park on Silver Springs Blvd, so you may not have to bring so many provisions. However, the Sam's Club is clear on the West side of I-75/ SR 200, it is a haul from the Park. Park was about a 90 minute drive from Seminole County. Recommend taking RT 46 to RT 46A to RT19 in Eustis to RT 40 to the Park from Seminole County. Happy Trails! RVWeenies

Hey Everyone.....Nice little park in Ruskin called EG Simmons Park....Nice, great bathhouses, lots of space to bike ride and walk. If you like fishing, this is a great spot...You can see downtown St.Pete and downtown Tampa from the beach area....not sure if I'd swim, but boating, kayaking, canoeing would be perfect....take bug spray as for the no-see-ums will carry you away. The county is in the middle of rennovating one side of the campground as we speak. I reccommend this park for a nice weekend getaway.............TERRELL

HELP!!!! lol ok so does anyone know how we can fix a bad bias on a new Kayak?? It's a ICELANDER Swifty 2 and oh boy does it want to go in a circle real fast!! It's bias to the right and a pain to paddle as all my time in the rear is taken up steering and trying to keep it straight...I've been told there is a steering paddle but it's fixed to the feet adjusters and I don't really want to be bothered having to steer as the thing should go straight anyway surely??? Hey any help would be good....thxs
